Day 23 - Tuesday, September 28, 2010
6:30 - 1 egg, 4 oz egg white, spinach, 1 oz lowfat cheese
11:00 - homemade choc. pb protein bar, carrots, celery, daikon radish
1:00 - 4 oz chicken breast, pesto, 1/3 oz mozzarella, 140g butternut squash
*30 min. walk at lunch
3:00 - about 1 cup grapes
5:20 - 1.5 TJ's chile lime chicken patties, zucchini w/little butter (2g)
*Foam rolling
7:45 - sugar free chai packet, 7 oz 2% greek yogurt w/honey, 6 small figs (140g), banana
Multivitamin, 5000 IU Vitamin D, 2 tsp fish oil

Today was a fairly stressful day, not quite sure why. Maybe not enough sleep, I just couldn't get to sleep last night - but did sleep very solidly once I fell asleep. I think fall and more darkness really helps with that!

I'm eating out for lunch tomorrow, my one day for the week!

Sunday: 1811 calories, 79g fat, 216g carbs, 98g protein
Monday: 1354 calories, 53g fat, 111g carbs, 107g protein
Tuesday: 1485 calories, 54g fat, 148g carbs, 120g protein

The carb/fat timing issue makes sense to me in theory, that's part of Precision Nutrition, which I am mostly following... but it just seems like that level of detail shouldn't be necessary to lose fat where I'm at right now. Eating at a certain level of calories should be enough, and that level shouldn't be that low.
And now I need to copy what I just replied to Crystal above and paste it right here too.
You'd think it would be that easy. What I'm finding, however, in my personal experience, is that it's not. Which is darned frustrating to say the least! My doctor has even told me that it's not as simple as calories in/calories out, even though that's the leading theory. The additional issue is that no one for sure knows exactly what the other factors at play are. So she jokes that every person's weight loss, to be successful, has be treated a lot like a science experiment: keep good data, track everything, and then start looking for trends...experiment, determine what works, what doesn't and then go back and examine the data again, etc. There's a lot of truth to it. I can't say I'm thrilled about it...but it does seem to be true!

Hope today is less stressful for you. Hang in there!

Thanks, Jen - yes, it's definitely seeming like a science experiment! Ah well, it gives me something to think about other than work.

Today was a crazy day, I went from meeting to conference call to meeting to conference call. I went for a walk at lunch and didn't even notice where I walked, was thinking too hard.

I don't think the rest of the week will be any better... but, my mom is leaving tomorrow, driving here from Wisconsin, so I can think of her being on her way and that'll remind me that I have next week off!
And I love to see my mom, I only see her once a year usually. We kids lived with my dad from the time I was 4, so I don't have any of the usual friction with my mom. My mom wanted us, but it was a difficult situation and she felt we'd be better off with my dad and step-mother - which was probably true. It just took me a little time as an adult to get to know her and see how much we have in common.

My calories are lower than last week, I'm sure. Doing the calculations, rather than just writing down what I eat, does make me not eat that extra banana or whatever. I always eat more on the weekends though, so my calories look lower now than they will be by Saturday night.

Sunday: 1811 calories, 79g fat, 216g carbs, 98g protein
Monday: 1354 calories, 53g fat, 111g carbs, 107g protein
Tuesday: 1485 calories, 54g fat, 148g carbs, 120g protein
Wednesday: 1449 calories, 49g fat, 142g carbs, 110g protein

Your nutrition is looking really awesome this week. Keep up the great work. (And I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you're rewarded handsomely by the scale, too! )

Hope you can get some good relaxation and rest this weekend. Seems you could use a little time away from work and the general hustle and bustle of the week to recharge your batteries. Almost there...TGIF!
