We went out to a fancy restaurant last night where you don't pick your food ... they pick it for you and bring it in courses with a wine pairing. You only tell them what you will NOT eat.

My friend got kangaroo meat for her main course. I tried some. I have to say, it was kind of like tough beef. But it tasted fine. It was cool to try something new.

My husband got venison which he thought was awesome. I grew up eating venison so I don't find that so exotic.

My main course was quail. My other friend had steak. Pretty run-of-mill.

yeah kangaroo's more gamey than beef so has a stronger flavour. I eat it regularly as here in Aus it's cheaper than good quality beef and is much better than run of the mill beef - lower in fat and no bodgy hormones etc.

Default Fri 4 Sep 2009

Nightmare night last night with something like 4 callouts for work and spaced out enough that I basically didn't get any decent sleep till after 6am this morning. So took a sickie today. Certainly no energy to train. Have spent the afternoon vegging out on the couch watching US Open tennis (as our landlord who's moved in with us has installed Foxtel (cable tv)).

M1: 12 noon: muesli, bit of milk, yoghurt, mixed berries, apple.

M2: 4pm: omelette - 1 egg, 1/2c white, onion, capsicum, broccoli, mushroom; tahini, avocado, taboulleh, fig/apple/ginger chutney; apple, 4 fresh dates, 40g G&B 85% choc.

M3: 7pm: salmon fillet, mix raw veges.

supps: multi, 4 fish oil caps, 8 greens caps
coffee: 0
tea: 1
green tea: 1

I just hit 27 today TWICE for a new personal best.

Everytime I do burpees I think of you because I remember a post from a long time ago where you had 26. That was my goal. Prior to today, my PR was 24. But I had a friend over here working out with me and I think that pushed me.

I do my burpees with a jump ... but no pushup.

Default weekend Sat 5-Sun 6 Sept 2009

a nice weekend, didn't get in the missed workout from Friday but a good bit of activity. Little bit of cycling Sat morning and on Sun went for an early morning walk followed by a kayak. After the kayaking got to have a quick go (only 5 mins or so) at stand up paddling. Guess it's a cross between surfing and kayaking (?) You stand up on a board which is bigger and wider than a surfboard (so more stable) and use one paddle swapping between right and left side. Pretty hard work as you are having to stabilise yourself the whole time (bit like continuously standing on a wobble board). But good fun and board is very stable - I have never even surfed before and was able to stay standing without falling off so if I can, anyone can. Going to drag some mates along to try it again sometime soon.

Eats, mixed bag.
