Default Sticking it to the Sloth

Seasons greetings all,

been here a while and fizzled out half way through a previous contest a year or so ago. Since then I've truly become an unmotivated and lazy sloth.

Having turned 40 a couple of weeks ago and not liking what I saw in the mirror, its time to stick it to the sloth I've become and lose weight/get fit.

So my stats are as follows:

Start date: 6th January 2011
Weight: 102.3kg (225.5lb)
Height: 173cm (5'8")
Neck: 42cm (16.5 inch)
Mid-Upper Arm: 35cm (13.8 inch)
Waist (above navel): 116cm (45.7 inch)
Hip Circumference: 110cm (43.3 inch)
Mid Thigh: 63cm (24.8 inch)

From http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html:

BMI: 34.2
Waist to height ratio: 0.67
%body fat: 34.6%
Lean Body Mass: 66.9

I will be using the TT for fat loss manual, start with the introductory program and work my way through.
In terms of nutrition: eventually ESE, The Diet Solution and Craig's wisdom.

'Before' photo's within 24 hours.

Cheers.

There's nothing like a wee trip round the TT site and forums to get you motivated again. Good luck!

Welcome fellow soon-to-be-ex-sloth! I was looking at your stats and we seem to be at almost exactly the same starting point and age. Let me know if you're up for a little one-on-one competition so that we can spur each other on! I could do with a kick in the backside myself for extra motivation!

Default Photo's....

Thanks guys for your support:

@Craig: I think I need constant whipping to maintain discipline which is currently my main downfall - but it is getting better!!

@northpolechick: thanks and yes - no fizzles!!

@weetamclan: good luck to you

@crazycanuck: thanks Tina, need all the help (virtual support) I can get.

@warsawani: I think you were doing the same comp as the last one I started, a little comp would be helpful

Well here are my before photo's that I took (hope they are OK for the comp), will post with my workouts and comments tonight

Okay, how about we post weekly progress figures to see how we're doing? Person with the biggest fat loss % at the end of 12 weeks wins. No prizes, just a bit of fun and to motivate each other.

Default Week 1

Week 1 update:

*Day 1 (6th) - TT Introductory level Workout A
warm up of 5 x Lying Hip Ext, 5 x Kneeling Pushup, 5 x Stab Ball Leg Curl.
SS#1: 8 x Lying hip ext, Plank x 15s
SS#2: 10 x bodyweight squat, bird dog 5 per side
SS#3: 8 x kneeling pushups, side plank 5s per side
SS#4: 10 x stick ups, 6 x ab curl-ups
Felt good to get back into this, esp those stick ups.

*Day 2 (7th) - Beginner Interval Training Workout A
Wasn't able to get this done on day 1 so did it day 2. Also did a fair bit of gardening pruning back a rabid camellia hedge...

*Day 3 (8th) - Light activity day. Played cricket with my son and mucked around.

*Day 4 (9th) - TT Intro Workout B
warm up of 5 x lying hip ext, 5 x kneeling pushup, 5 x stab ball leg curl
SS#1: step ups x 8, Stick ups x 12
SS#2: stab ball leg curl x 8, kneeling push up x 8
SS#3: prisoner squat x 10, side plank 10s per side
Beginner Interval Training Workout B
Workout was good again and really feeling the muscles (in a good way) work. Due to unexpected visitors, the Interval Training was interupted.

*Day 5 (10th) - light activity day

*Day 6 (11th) - light activity day, should have done more but got stuck in town for too long buying the kids school shoes...

*Day 7 (12th) - Light activity day, spent 40 minutes on exercise bike at work.

So not bad for the first week, getting into the grove and enjoying it. Nutrition wise, it's ok but could be better. Will take a while but I'm making sure my portion sizes are better, not eating the kids left overs, not eating late at night and cutting down on alcohol.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*wsarwani: sounds good as I need a bit of competition. What day do you want to post weekly stats - saturdays starting on the 15th??

Looks like you had a good first week - good stuff.

Saturdays are good for me and starting on 15th Jan is okay too - I will have completed my first week by then too. Let the games begin!
