I emailed in my entry but here it is in the unofficial form..

0.3% of my life just went by and I have to say I learned so much more about myself, fitness, nutrition, and motivation during this time than in the past 5 years!

I was always an active person but my methods were all wrong. I would spend hours on the elliptical or running outside. This kept me in decent shape but my weight would never change. I started to do some digging and found Turbulance Training. It was here that I discovered long, slow, and boring cardio was not the answer to fat loss. What? I donít need to spend an hour on the elliptical anymore? I was a little skeptical because I thought working out more was the be all and end all. I began to lift weights which I totally avoided before. I also took up high intensity interval training on the treadmill and outside but my weight really wasnít going down to where I wanted it.

I knew my problem was with what I was putting in my mouth but I was in denial. I am a very clean eater but I was just eating too much of it. In fact, once I started tracking my calories I was 500-800 calories OVER what I should have been eating, consistently. Yikes! This motivated me to create a food journal and it totally changed my world! It wasnít easy but slowly and surely I fine tuned my diet so that I was eating around 1500 calories per day of mainly fruits and vegetables with some nuts and grains thrown in. I made all my meals myself and that way I knew exactly what was in them. Another key was portion control. I would always eat out of a big plate or bowl and even if it was just a salad, I would eat until I was overstuffed. Using a smaller plate and bowl helped me to gauge my fullness a lot more and prevent the ominous food baby. I also began using Brad Pilonís Eat Stop Eat and really loved it. His program really put into perspective how much I was overeating and it also really taught me how to really use my will power. Guess what? The weight started to drop!

I also found social support to be extremely important during the contest! I had some great support at home where the hubby was awesome at dishing out the tough love. The forums were amazing and I felt writing about my workouts, nutrition, or the lack thereof, really helped me keep motivated and feel like I wasnít alone. The members on the forums felt like friends and Iím so glad to have shared this experience with them all. Itís like your own cheering squad!! And how could I leave out Craig? The daily emails, facebook quotes, stories, and endless support on the forums really helped me get into the right mindset, believe in myself, and to not beat myself up so much. Thank you Craig!

At the end of the contest I felt amazing and for the first time in a long time I felt proud of myself and my accomplishments. I was beyond happy to see those 4 inches gone from my waist. I also havenít been below 130 for a long time. And the abs, oh the abs! Iím so excited to see them starting to shape! Iím not settling down to being a couch potato now though. Iíve got new goals and Iím starting a new TT program (Booty for Wife)! Even though itís not always easy getting your body to where you want it to be, itís so comforting to finally know HOW to get there. This knowledge is truly priceless and has forever changed my life for the better!
