Default Get A Grip!!!!!!

It's about time I really got my fitness/weight/life sorted!

Ever since TT1 I've been fluctuating between 190lbs and 210lbs. At 190lbs, I'm starting to look and feel fairly fit. At 210lbs I look and feel awful.
The problem is that 190lbs seems to be a barrier. I'm not sure if it is physical or psychological but every time I get to the low 190s I mange to sabotage my training and give up - last time it was through illness.

I am confident in what I need to do, I have a dreadful procrastination habit though. Everything I do is conditional - when I get this in place, then I'll be able to......

So, starting today, it's time to get a grip! No more conditions, no more excuses, just do it!

Age: 47
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 207lbs
Body fat %: 29 (measured using Tanita scales)

You are not alone in frustration or in hitting seemingly impenetrable barriers. I am roughly your age and I used my age as an excuse for slowly declining fitness. I agree - no more! Congrats on making the commitment. Stay accountable here and to people in your real life! We are keeping our eyes on you!

I have made a start!!

Spent a lot of today cooking - a wicked soup of my own design.

Lentils, passata, carrots, spinach, onions, red chili, chorizo, all together in a huge pot and boiled away. Tastes splendid.

Tonight I cooked a chicken stir fry with peppers, onions, white cabbage, carrots and beansprouts. More veg than I have eaten in one day since....well probably ever!!

I'm using the six month bodyweight manual so I'm right at the beginning - nothing very exciting but at least I got it done.

Just finishing off today's training:

15 min density training:

5 x KB clean and press paired with
5 x KB goblet squat

100 reps KB swings (5 sets)

Spent the morning gardening - I HATE gardening but Sue, my wife, has just got an allotment after waiting for 3 years!! I'm designated raised bed builder and preparer - and in my case DIY stands for destroy it yourself! Still, managed to avoid cracking my finger with the hammer today - just recovering from the last time!

Had another large bowl of my soup for lunch and it's chicken breast with salad for dinner!

Off to start cooking!

I had a meeting at Oxford University this morning and then had to walk through the middle of town - all those restaurants, all those delicious aromas. But I withstood the challenge and just kept walking!!

Today's training was workout B

Intervals - 24/36 split rowing for 20 minutes

Was pretty intense and I began to really feel it after the 4 rep so I was pleased to finish.

Day of prayer and fasting at church today so no nutritional worries for me today!!

It's strange how our bodies seem to have a set point that they tend to return to in terms of weight. I am with you on how frustrating it is to flucuate up and down. After TC10 my weight began to creep up (it has went up and down the same stone for half my life!). So TC11 was just what I needed to get back on track. I totally get that self sabotage business also. It's like I am my own worst enemy sometimes!

Glad you are on board for the contest. Good luck in achieving your goals.

Had a busy day yesterday - moving a shed onto my wife's allotment.

Feeling pretty sleep deprived currently - I'm getting to bed about 1.30am and Sue is having difficulty sleeping and most nights wakes me up at 0530am.

Workout C Bodyweight

100 KB swings

Felt hard work today but that's probably more due to shifts and sleep than anything else.

Hi Kerry,

I'm planning to start incorporating some running at the 4 week point.

Tried alternating single arm KB swings today for my intervals!!

Great fun (but some bruised shins too!!)
