Default Starting with BD&HC

So this is my first TT contest and I am starting with the Buff Dudes and Hot Chicks 4-week program. I also started seeing a specialist for my nutrition today, which will be a weekly check-in. I know she measured everything and calculated bmi just from my weight and height. They are doing more accurate readings at my gym tomorrow, so I will add that info to the 'starting stats'. She also took some photos today, plenty of accountability with weekly check-ins there and this forum. My starting weight is 135.6.

I have a bridesmaids dress that I need to fit into at the end of June. If I start with BD&HC do I just pick up another program after 4 weeks or continue another round? The Booty for Wife program sounds great but it is a full 12 weeks, so maybe after the first month

So excited for our transformations!

Default almost too tired to workout

Today was exhausting! I was in the yard pulling grass, tilling, pitch ax, etc for 7 hours straight! Now I have showered and feel like falling into bed but I still haven't fit in my TT workout yet... Not sure if doing it now would be overkill, but shorts are on and I am determined to complete the transformation so NO skipping 'on' days.

Successes today:
kept to my diet
drank over a gallon of water thus far
lots of vitamin D - sunshine!
made huge steps toward moving the majority of my garden to my backyard

Wondering if I should do the workouts if my day was sooo labor intensive, & trying to avoid injury.

I recommend not working out on such a labour intensive day.

Thanks For your response Andrew, I got changed & all setup but couldn't go through with it. It seemed like even if I got through the workout, it wouldn't be with my best effort. Got a great nights sleep instead. With changing my diet as well this week, it would have been too much. No regrets, feeling great & slimming down!

Default 1 week update

I am 1 week into my transformation. I went in and checked in on how I was doing with diet & loss so far. I have found that I am highly sensitive to sugars. I haven't eaten 'real' sugar processed foods in a couple years but even fruits have taken their toll now. So i am eliminating sweets, and sticking to tart berries for my fruit or treats.

She measures in 6-8 points on the body & then I weighed in 3.8lbs lost since last monday.

I needed to get to the gym to do my workout today & arrived to find the fire department getting there at the same time & everyone evacuating - hopefully they will have it all sorted by morning.
Today I'm feeling stronger and very thankful for these forums of support!

Default bd&hc workout c is a killer! Love it !

Wow, workout C in Buff Dudes & Hot Chicks is killer! Yesterday was the 2nd time I did it and both times I am flushed and feeling it in the first superset. By the time I get to the final round of bodyweight intervals I am toast. I wish the A & B workout were more like this one.

I am curious - what is the harm in working out on the 'rest' days?

Hi, Amy!! First of all, if you are completely new to TT maybe it's better to start with a beginner program- it's easier to stick to it&you will perhaps be less sore. About working out on off days- it leads to overtraining. You have to rest between your workouts and give your body a chance to recover from the intense stress you've put it through- if you don't recover properly, your body just won't be stronger next time, you'll feel weaker, etc. It happened to me 2 years ago, when I worked out 4 days per week, with intervals&tennis lessons during the same days- after 2 weeks I lost my appetite for going to the gym...
Stay strong,
Ion

Hi Ion,
Thanks so much for your recommendations. I didn't realize that Buff Dudes and Hot Chicks was an advanced workout. Other than the final sets of workout C, I haven't had any issues keeping up with it. And I actually am never sore the next day. I still can't wrap my head around overtraining, I have a desk job and love the exercise break I get. For now my 'rest' days are now just going to be long walks and gardening etc.
I am 25 lbs from my ultimate goal weight, but technically not overweight. I am strong, but have an evil little layer of fat over it I know that is going to take a while to get there, and I am not looking to hurt myself trying things on my own.

I did increase my calories, adding in 3 more servings of veggies & 1 of fruit. My protein intake is good, my entire diet is managed with a nutritionist & doctor. I personally eat very clean - primarily raw fruits and veggies, fermented foods, and local meats.
But the doctor is difficult and wants me to stay between 800-1100 calories a day for a few months - seems nuts to me. But he said if I was working out I could increase to 1300-1400 on those days.
