small doubt: is this supposed to be done on an off day or replace a workout?

depends on the challenge and your fitness level. in most cases, replace a workout

Default Challenge Idea for Week of 11-14-08

Since Craig mentioned reading the newest Men's Health and their searing indictment of elliptical machines I thought maybe we could grab something from their pages to use as a challenge. There is a much better 15-minute workout in the magazine by the one and only CB ;-)...but I thought in the spirit of trying something different and something that does not involve a bunch of equipment we could give the below workout a try.

Tar Heels Medicine Ball Workout

There's ten different exercises using a medicine ball that you complete in a circuit (20 reps each) and once completing the circuit (200 total reps) you can go again for 400 total reps. The exercises are alittle different and pictures help which is why I linked to the page and yes it does include some situps...but I figured we could let that slide since the Tar Heels are one of the best conditioned teams in the NCAA and this part of their conditioning (and yes my favorite NCAA basketball team)

I figured to make it a challenge you could just submit the time it takes you to complete 1 or 2 circuits (200 or 400 total reps respectively)...or you could just keep going through the exercises for 15 mins and count total overall reps (though that would be really rough). I tried just one circuit the other day and my abs felt shredded and then put through a food processor.

Also to make it easier you could just hold a basketball or soccer ball instead of an 8 lb medicine ball...especially if you don't have a medicine ball like me so that makes it do-able for everyone. Just an idea for this week...even if you guys don't want to make it a challenge it's a great circuit to try on an off day or something.

Interesting idea. I just looked at that one the on the plane the other day.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Great point on using the soccer ball in place of med ball.

We can overlook some of the exercises for one workout...

Click here for the Med Ball Circuit Challenge

All in favor or opposed?

PS - I definitely recommend just doing one circuit unless you are advanced.

Which issue and which page number please? I probably saw the item but I would like to go back to it.
