for snatches, corkscrew style the bell goes around the arm, hardstyle the bell goes over the top - i will find a couple videos to show the difference and post them.

Agreed both of those are too-large jumps in difficulty. My approach is usually to regress to a exercise with a similar movement pattern that I can do - instead of pistols maybe stick with the 1 leg...
